My Profile: Part Two

I hope to become an English teacher in Japan after I complete the MA-TESOL program here at SFSU. Some of you may be wondering what my bodybuilding picture above has to do with a would-be English teacher. It is not that I want to be a teacher who flexes his muscles to get his students to obey him. The main reason I put it here is, of course, I just want to show off. The picture was taken about three years ago, one year after I decided to make a complete turnabout in the course of my life. By that time, I had piled up a lot of fat around my belly due mainly to the bad habits of having a late-night and irregular dinner with a lot of alcohol, which is a typical life of Japanese salarymen, or salaried workers. I wanted to get rid of all of my fat I had accumulated during my first boring working career period. So this picture of a lean body has a special meaning to me: Breaking away from the old routines and starting a new life. I think we are living in the world that is currently undergoing a vast change. I have to be changing so that I will be able to adjust myself to the new system. This picture always reminds me of it.
